Welcome to the Pacific Salmon Summit Web Site!

The Salmon Summit is a collaborative learning experience for students from schools in Alaska, British Columbia and Washington. In the initial pilot, the students spent five months studying every aspect of the Pacific salmon in their regions, and investigating how these remarkable fish could be protected. They then switched hats and became representatives for each other's jurisdictions, drafting Statements of Concern on behalf of those jurisdictions.

The project led up to the Pacific Salmon Summit, on March 11, 2002, when all of the students met face to face in Vancouver, BC to negotiate a Joint Statement of Concerns and Plan of Action as representatives of the US states and the Canadian federal government. On-line visitors to this site were able to watch, listen and participate in real time.

On this site you will find a rich collection of resources related to the Pacific salmon, some created by 7th Floor Media, and some created by the participating students. We invite you to explore and learn.

The Salmon Summit is a project of 7th Floor Media, supported by generous sponsors.
